Mounting Your Photographs

Here are the steps to mounting your photograph using Utah Valley University equipment in the GT538 Lab. Below are videos to help you through the process of drymounting photographs in the Art & Visual Communications Lab.

Here are a few key points to remember between when using the dry mount system at UVU:
  • AVC's Drymount press should be set to 215° F.
  • Warm the Drymount press up for 30 minutes prior to use.
  • Set Drymount in press for 1 1/2 minutes.
  • After heat setting your work, quickly move your piece to the Coldpress before it cools. (This is the most critical step in the process!)


Start by tacking mounting tissue to your photo:

Next trim your photograph down with the Rototrim:

After tacking and trimming, use the dry mount press to mount your photograph:
